INITIAL ADJUSTER'S REPORT

It was noted 1 of 11 crates damaged upon unloading process at DFW Singapore facility airline staff.
AMAT has looked at the unit (the main tool) and deemed it irreparably damaged. Rejected Date 01/05/12.

The amount of damage visually observed by buyer and Manufacturer was deemed excessive and did not warrant risk of immediate delivery and installation.

All shock sensors were tripped and the crate suffered significant structural damage. Inside the crate, the tool was broken loose from its shipping restrains on the platform.

Significant visible damage was noted including structural damage to the FI as well as components of the chamber A position being physically bent and pushed back into the system mainframe area indicating these components bore the weight of the entire mainframe.

Visible impact damage was limited to the front end cabinet (where the wafers enter/exit the unit) – there was slight deformation to one side of the cabinet but both cabinet doors (one on the opposite side of the impact damage) were misaligned from top-to-bottom by about 2-3mm.
Shipping brackets (that hold the tool to the pallet) were misaligned by 2mm to 7mm from front-to-back and side-to-side.

There was no visual indications that the frame was bent nor was there impact damage to any sub-assembly (gas chamber, mainframe/optics, vapor chamber, etc.).

END REPORT

The main tool is new from factory in Singapore.
Replacement value just for the main tool is $2.4 million.
This value is for damaged tool only.

AMAT stated all measurements/alignments for the tool are referenced to the ADO’s (Auto Door Openers) at the front end. Given that the impact was to the front end and we have misaligned doors, they were concerned about the alignment of the subassemblies in the tool. AMAT has stated that, due to the precision of the unit and sensitivity of components, they do not feel comfortable with the unit. AMAT stated that virtually all sub-assemblies would require replacement.
